This week saw S&A being used as the backdrop for the wedding photos of customers Robyn & James by Something blue photography. Good bye stuffy wedding photos! This is a great way to get some uniquely personal shots to remember the day. Photos taken by Raffaella from Something Blue
The facade of S&A has been given a touch of NYC by the renowned artist Steven Powers, Powers now a full time studio artist is well known for his graffiti throughout the 90’s in NYC. He would concentrate his work on the grates of store fronts, targeting businesses that appeared to be out of business or already heavily vandalised, and by ‘99 he had painted around 70 grates.
He had a smart way of going undetected, if approached he would say ”I’m with Exterior Surface Painting Outreach, and I’m cleaning up this gate”; the official-sounding name, and clever acronym was enough to ward most people off. (ESPO is powers tag name).
So, knowing Powers was in town – we could not miss the opportunity to get an original graffiti style artwork applied to our roller grate.
We turn cheeks – Manually!
If you happened to pass S&A on Wednesday then you would be forgiven for thinking that a film crew had landed, it was in fact the National Breast Cancer Foundation launching their new range of clothing for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer. The launch party was a great success and the synergy between the venue and the event was brilliant – Andrews workshop was commandeered by chefs, the front counter became the free bar by Kit & Kaboodle and the space dedicated to the fantastic black and white clothing and accessories.

Due to popular demand we are holding another bicycle swap meet on Sat the 24th July (any excuse to party!). Thanks to everyone who came down to the S&A Bicycle Swap meet on the weekend. There was a great deal of swapping and selling on the day, and some unique finds among the stalls. It was fab to see so many people roll in on their bike, and one truly stood out from the crowd a custom sparkle ZULO frame, with a customized crank ( Blink ) . Here are a few snaps from the day.
